Regatta 2 - Saturday 15th October
Due to weather and AGM Autumn Series 1 did not take place.
Regatta 3 - Saturday 22nd October
This morning saw 13 of our intrepid club sailors get together to participate in Autumn series 3.
We were all greeted by a very light northerly wind which tended to shift all around the place.
Race 1 saw our intrepid Chairman Harry Ellis pick the right side of the course to start and was never seen again despite the efforts of Simon Purdon and Eric Curtis to try and haul him back and that’s how they finished.
Race 2 once again saw someone get off to a flyer, this time it was Robert Owen who maintained a good lead over the fleet throughout the race Eric was 2nd and Pete Sutton 3rd.
At this stage we decided to have an early coffee break and hoped that the wind would fill in.
No such luck on our return for race 3 it was much the same. This time it was Vinnie who got away, chased all the way by Peter and Rick Buxton, that’s how they finished.
Race 4 saw Peter take line honours with Eric 2nd and Vinnie 3rd.
Race 5 once again saw Peter first over the line with Vinnie 2nd and Simon 3rd.
Race 6 saw the wind increase and switch to the NW which entailed changing the course. Vinnie made a very basic error in not charging his transmitter the night before, which saw his boat sail off into the distance, hotly pursued by him in the rescue boat, there must be something to be learnt there. The rest of the fleet had an enjoyable sail in a freshening wind which saw David Perkins our member from Cambridge take line honours with Rick 2nd and Peter 3rd.
Race 7 got under way and Vinnie with borrowed transmitter Batteries showed the fleet the way home, closely followed by Peter and Rick.
Race 8 once again saw Vinnie cross the line 1st with Rick 2nd and Eric 3rd.
Overall results were very close with Vinnie in 1stplace beating Peter by No of victories and Eric a very creditable 3rd.
Well done all who sailed today in a very enjoyable atmosphere.
Regatta 4 - Saturday 12th November
Regatta 5 - Saturday 19th November
Regatta 6 - Saturday 26th November
This morning saw an excellent entry of 15 boats take part in Autumn series 6.
A light NNW breeze was initially the order of the day. Then after coffee the wind veered to the NW and increased in strength which allowed for a good beat to Buoy 4 followed by a triangular course.
There was a slight problem with a bit of weed still floating around the course, but this did not affect too many boats.
Principle winners were, Vinnie with 3 races, Mark Holt with 2 and Pete Sutton, Tony Garner and Terry Burton with 1 each.
Regatta 7 - Saturday 10th December
This morning saw the last event of the Autumn Series.
8 sailors took part whilst another 8 decided to stand on the shore and watch things develop. This was mainly due to the fact that there was hardly any wind.
Only 6 races were sailed due to those taking part deciding to call it a day, as the wind decreased in strength.
Principle winners were Vinnie with 3 races, terry Burton with 2 and Robert Owen with 1. Another consistent sailor was Pete Sutton with 4 seconds.
